Sampian War or Siat Sampian or Coconut Leaf War held at Samuan Tiga Temple at Gianyar Regency Bali. This is the one of the oldest Balinese Hindus’ sacred tradition. The ritual was played by 2 different groups in a fun way, the female group is called Jro Permas consisted with about 35 people, and the male one is Parekan with hundred people join in group. First turn is Jero Permas which play longer show by the other turn of Parekan.

Starting with Nampiog, a dance moving around the Temple 11 times clockwise (purwa daksina),




the next activity is done in the center jaba (center field) copying the wave moves. It forms like a net compared with “Juru Pencar” repeated again and again.



Every player takes ‘a Sampian’ (sometimes it’s allowed to take 2) then be ready to play ‘Siat’ or war ritual.




After siat sampian finished, the participant bring the sampian or coconut leaf out of the ritual arena
